School Day & Timings

At our school, we believe that every minute matters. We are committed to providing a safe, settled, and purposeful environment where your child can thrive from the moment they step through our gates.

By structuring our day efficiently, we ensure that pupils transition smoothly between activities, allowing us to maximise learning time and maintain a calm atmosphere across the school.

 

Start of the Day: The "Early Morning" Advantage

We encourage all families to aim for an 8:40 am arrival. This ten-minute window is a vital part of our school day.

• 8:40 am: School gates open.

• 8:50 am: School gates close and Registration begins.

 

Why the 8:40 am arrival is essential:

Arriving early allows children to settle into their classroom and engage in "Early Morning Work." These activities are often tailored specifically to the individual learning needs of your child, providing them with a focused start and the headspace to prepare for the day ahead.

Important: It is essential that all children are in their classrooms by 8:50 am. Late arrivals can be disruptive to the settled environment we work hard to maintain for all pupils.

If Pupils arrive after 8.50 they enter through the school office and be registered as "late".

Our Daily Routine

While specific timetables may vary slightly between year groups, our general structure for Years 1–6 ensures a balanced and rigorous approach to learning:

• 9:00 am – Morning Lessons: Formal learning begins promptly. We dedicate our morning sessions to core English skills—including reading and writing—and Mathematics, ensuring these subjects are tackled when children are most refreshed.

• 12:00 pm – Lunchtime: A dedicated hour for children to eat, socialise, and play, returning to class ready for the afternoon.

• 1:00 pm – Afternoon Session: We begin the afternoon with a short "Maths Meeting" to recap and reinforce key concepts. The remainder of the day is dedicated to our broad range of foundation subjects.​

 

 

End of the Day

To ensure a safe and orderly dismissal for all families, we operate a staggered finish:

• 3:15 pm: Reception, Year 1, and Year 2

• 3:20 pm: Year 3, Year 4, Year 5, and Year 6

Parents collect their children from the playground or classroom door.
