Forest School
Susan McCabe - Forest School Lead
Forest School is a form of outdoor play where students are encouraged to explore learning through play. In an outdoor setting the children learn about nature and the environment in which they live. FS is based on the process of learning rather than on the content of the sessions which encourages child led collaborative learning in which children pursue their own interests with the support of adults. With the appropriate supervision children are introduced to tool use and art and craft using natural materials. "Forest school as defined by the Forest School Association as an inspirational process that offers all learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment with trees". Together we aim to enhance the sense of community in the garden that is felt throughout our school.
